There's an old point-and-click adventure game I used to play on my PC, probably in the early- to mid-90's. It might have been released in the early 90's or in the 80's, I'm not sure.
I don't know this game's title, and I'm having a hard time converting my memories of the game into relevant search-terms for Google. I'm hoping that I might get better results from other human memories. :)
Note: Any one of these memories might be less-than-true, as I was quite young when I played the game. Take everything I describe with a grain of salt. I'm open to as many ideas as you can throw at me. Here goes.
What I Remember
The game is set in the future, in a post-apocalyptic, fairly dystopian world. I would go so far as to call it almost cyberpunk, except that I didn't know of it at the time and I can't remember for sure. (I'm going to stop you right here and tell you right away that it is not Beneath a Steel Sky, which has invaded every search I've made.)
Despite the broken-down feel of the world, you play as a character who has time-travelled from even further in the future, and you're in much better condition than everything else. I believe something has gone wrong in the future, and you're here to stop it (classic!), or you're here to simply make sure the future ends up the way you know it to be.
I think you're wearing some kind of spandex suit (classic 90's future wardrobe), and I believe it is generally white and blue. If I remember correctly, it's mainly white but with blue stripes around, kind of in a Tron-like style but thicker lines and not all glowy.
You have a companion. Your companion is a dog. However, he wears some kind of device around his neck that allows him to speak English, and he's quite intelligent. I really thought this unique bit would find it with Google alone, but nope.
I remember going into a subway or something and finding a group of punks who gave me a hard time. Later there was a Frogger-esque part where you get a bird's-eye view and you have to cross a very busy highway without getting hit. On the other side, a woman picks you up in her very fancy car and takes you to a big building. I remember something about a room with radiation cannisters. There was also a kitchen robot that was very sassy. I remember having a screwdriver and noticing a screw on the kitchen robot, but whenever I tried to interact with it he would push me away and yell at me. I think that's where I got stuck.
Well, that's all I can remember! As you can see, these memories do not translate well into search-terms.
Please help! I really, really want to find this game and asking around like this is my only hope. If you've got any idea at all that hasn't been suggested yet, even if it doesn't sound right, please let me know. Thanks everyone.
PS: I tried to use the identify-this-game tag, as was suggested by the backwards-compatibility tag, but since it doesn't exist yet I couldn't add it... maybe someone who can create tags should go ahead and do that so we can all benefit from it?
